I've always loved lace butterflies and gold glittering butterflies just take the cake! I'm also a big fan of vellum. I love that translucent layer over a piece of solid card stock. I find when vellum is embossed, the effect is even prettier because the paper gets a bit discolored to a brighter white wherever the embossing occurs. Which is why one of my favorite combinations is embossed vellum over white card stock. The end result is so very pretty.
That's how my card got started and with this backdrop, I decided to go for Gold! I cut out the butterflies with my Cameo, which is so fabulous because I can resize them to whatever I need. Then I covered the entire surface with Versamark before adding gold embossing powder. Once I finished the heat embossing, the butterflies were glittering and almost brittle. Perfect for adhering to my card. Here's a close up of the large butterfly.
As a final touch I added some pearls in the center. They went marvelously with the white backdrop. And of course no card of mine is complete without a bow. And in this case a super massive bow it had to be! After many requests, I tried to do a video demonstrating how I tie a bow but unfortunately the camera angle was not right. You can still watch the video but look forward to another one very soon.

The butterfly is vying with the Bow cant decide which is more stunning but I have to be loyal and say what a stunning bow...I keep saying this again and again but you make the most amazing bows!!

ReplyDeletehow sweet - my daughter is just 15 months, when I show her a card, she just wants to destroy it. Looking forward to when she can give me her comments like yours :)
DeleteI don't like the color of the ribbon for some reason... it takes away the beauty of the butterflies but what a neat bow... I can never tie neat ones for some reason... Sorry if i am overtly critical... Just my opinion and you are very neat in your work Sunehra...!!
ReplyDeleteHey Khushboo - thanks so much for sharing your opinion. We're all so super careful not to hurt anyone's feelings but its really refreshing to get some negative feedback. The color of this ribbon is a bit garish I have to admit, but the material is such that it sits very nicely which is why I use it. Please continue to share your honest feedback, it will certainly help my work!
DeleteElegance with beauty...thats what I will say 4 this card..!!
ReplyDeleteBow is indeed perfect...looking forward for the tutorial.
I think I have to get my husband to hold the camera while I tie it as there is no other camera angle that works. Will def do that for you :)
