Day 25 of Sunehra's Christmas Craft Countdown - A Sleigh Explosion Box

I'm on the 25th day of my countdown and today I have yet another explosion box to share with you. I've done 3 others during this countdown and this is the fourth. Once again to recap, I've set myself a challenge for Christmas. My Countdown Goal is simple - Every day from November 1st to November 30th, I'm going to make 3 projects. They could be cards, tags, gift boxes, ornaments, whatever I want to complete but I have to complete at least 3 projects every day. To see my previous countdown projects, click here

This is the box when it's closed. As always I keep the outside quite muted except for the huge bow. The colours and designs is all solid without any decoration. The idea is that once you open the box, the explosion is not just with the sides opening out but also with the blast of colour and design.

Here's the box when the lid is opened. The sides all fall down to reveal a big oversized card measuring 12" by 12". I added a pattern paper with the title Happy Holidays so that I didn't have to add any text myself. Then I made spaces for 3 tag pockets in which I slipped three tags and 2 spaces for journaling.

Here's a look at the 3D sleigh filled with gifts and beside it a view of the sleigh tag I made to coordinate with the theme of the box. Everything is cameo cut and as always I am delighted with the outcome of my Cameo Creations.

That wraps up today's post. See you tomorrow when I hit Day 26 of my Christmas Craft Countdown!

Day 24 of Sunehra's Christmas Craft Countdown - Sleighs Sleighs and more Sleighs!!!

Today is the 24th day of my Craft Countdown and I've got a whole bunch of sleighs to share with you.
I first made this sleigh towards the start of my countdown and you can view that post here. I loved how Christmassy it was and how roomy and sturdy too! Perfect for displaying holiday candy in my house or for presenting goodies to my friends and neighbours. So I decided to make a few more and here they are all lined up in a row.

This is the reverse side of the sleighs. I've added just a tiny rim of pearls on the back for a little bit of glam. It also came in handy to hide all the glue residue. The pattern paper on the sleighs is all from the DCWV Evergreen stack so it's really festive and fun.

And to give you an idea of the size of the sleigh, here's a picture of one with my sunglasses lounging inside comfortably - see they're pretty big - about 6" long! So it's a really roomy and decorative paper craft creation.

Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow!

Day 18 of Sunehra's Christmas Craft Countdown - Christmas Tree Explosion Box

I am posting this one day late - I should have posted my project for day 18 yesterday and even though I managed to finish it and photograph it, I didn't get the chance to blog about it. I was all set to post it last night but then I dozed off while putting my kids to sleep!! Well better late than never. My countdown is in tact, woo hoo!!Once again to recap, I've set myself a challenge for Christmas. My Countdown Goal is simple - Every day from November 1st to November 30th, I'm going to make 3 projects. They could be cards, tags, gift boxes, ornaments, whatever I want to complete but I have to complete at least 3 projects every day. I've got another Christmas explosion box to share with you today. This time the central feature is a  3D Christmas tree. To see my previous creation which had a 3D Santa, click here. The picture above shows the box when it's closed. I have kept it really really clean and simple on the outside so that the inside is even more explosive with all its colourful and 3D elements.

Here's a closer look at the 3D tree. It's so simple to do. Just cut about 6 Christmas trees, fold them in the centre length wise and then glue the side of one to the side of another. I added some random pearls to create a snowy effect on the tree. Isn't that sweet?

On 3 of the sides of the box I have added a pocket with a tag and on 2 of the sides I have added an empty space for journaling or a photograph. Here's a look at both these components.

My idea behind an Explosion Box especially for Christmas is to convert an unimaginative gift like cash or a gift card into something quite exciting. Any of the pockets can be used to slip in the money or voucher and it can be presented in this fun and dimensional keepsake.

Day 18 done! Say you later today for my Day 19 projects which I have yet to begin! Ha ha!

Day 14 of Sunehra's Christmas Craft Countdown - A Christmas Explosion Box

I've always loved explosion boxes but I've never made one for Christmas - that is until today. I've filled it with some really fun elements - just perfect for my Christmas Craft Countdown.

The photograph below shows the box when it's closed. Looks like an ordinary gift box right? That's the fun with an explosion box! At first glance it looks like a normal gift box but then when it opens....

... It explodes to a large open card!!! Since this is a Christmas Explosion, the central feature is a 3D Santa, all cut on my Cameo. Isn't he just adorable!! Love love love it!!! I decided the first three squares to the sentiment - which reads Merry Christmas. Then 3 boxes contain little pockets for tags and the last 2 boxes have a journaling space.

Here's a closeup of the tags - the Santa theme prevails with a cute little Santa hat as the main focus. I think these look really fun and festive!

Here's a look inside when you first open the lid. There you have the 3D santa and all the sides closed up! Any recipient is going to be most curious don't you think?

I think an explosion box is a great way to present someone with a boring but well-appreciated gift like money or a gift card. With all the pockets available, there's plenty of space to include slip in the cash or card.

That wraps up Day 14! Almost midway of my countdown and what a blast it has been!

Day 7 of Sunehra's Christmas Craft Countdown - It's Sleigh Time!!!

Today I have to say I am really delighted with my creations. I had this 3D sleigh Cameo cut file since last Christmas and I never used it. I finally decided to try it out today as part of my Christmas craft Countdown. To see my previous Countdown projects, click here.

Here is my 3D sleigh cut on my Cameo, which I have intended to be a Christmas Treatbox. Every year, I present homemade sweet treats to friends and neighbours in a handmade box. Last year I made a whole bunch of identical Poinsettia boxes which you can view here. And I have to say the monotony of making the same thing over and over again really got to me. So this year I'm going to have some fun with the boxes. My Sleigh Treatbox is one of the options. It's actually quite roomy measuring 10" long by 4.5" wide and 5.5" tall, perfect to hold some home made cookies, cupcakes and chocolates.

Of course with each sleigh candy box, I have to present a sleigh card right? Ha ha - maybe... maybe not but since I was making a sleigh, I decided to make a coordinating sleigh card. The same cut file was used with my Cameo albeit in a smaller size to create this Ho Ho Ho Card.

And to take the set a little further, I made a coordinating tag as well. The sleigh cut file was further crunched to make a small little embellishment which I combined with card stock and pattern paper.

Today again I finished my Sleigh Set too late to photograph it in natural light. So I was forced to turn on the lights to capture my work but I will re-click them tomorrow to better present the colours and design. UPDATE: The pictures above are the re-clicked images.
